Lucy Ran's exploration in Modeling & Materials using C4D

Module 1

This is the exploration process of my ideation and formstorming journey in creating 3D models and materials in C4D.

Design Challenge 1

All the bracelets shown in this image consists different memories, and many are collected while travelling with my mom This bracelet is a complex geometry object, it is also a bracelet gifted from my mom as a protection bracelet This is the rendered photo of the bird plush, where I explored using the ‘Taper’, ‘FFD’ and ‘Subdivision surfaces’ tabs to create, for the wings and feet part I have used ‘Bend’ and ‘Taper’ together to accomplish the shape. This scissors is a complex geometry object, it is also a scissors that I've used for 7 years as a memory of my childhood This is a collection of different scissors that I have used for different purposes, but interestingly they all have similar colour schemes and shapes, which is a coincidence that I find interesting This is the rendered photo of the bracelet, where I explored modelling this bracelet using simple repetitive shapes, and has also applied different textures. This is the rendered photo of the carrot pen, where I explored modelling this using the ‘Taper’ tab and ‘Subdivision surface’ tab to create the outside shape and its details. This bird plushie is a complex geometry object, it is also a bird plushie gifted from a close friend who I no longer talk to This is the rendered photo of the AirPods case, where I explored modelling this using the ‘Polygon Pen’ to ‘trace’ the outer shape and adding details, then used ‘Bevel’ tab for rounded corners and ‘Extrude’ tab for volume. This is the rendered photo of the scissors, where I explored modelling scissors using the ‘Polygon Pen’ to ‘trace’ the shape of scissors off from the reference image. Then using ‘Extrude’ tab to add volume in shape. This image shows how sometimes a pen can be a tool for writing, but also a tool for expressing one's feelings and emotions This carrot pen is a primitve object, it is also a carrot pen I got from the $10-off-$50 promotion at a makeup store in Jeju Island This image shows the variety of plushies that I own and how they are all different in shapes, sizes, and colours, but they all have a similar purpose of being a companion This ear phone is a primitive object, it is also a ear phone I got from opening a rbc student account promotion This is a creative combination of earpods and cd player which I photographed for showing contemporary technology used for music and how it has changed over time This is the rendered photo of the lemon, where I explored modelling this using ‘Taper’ and ‘FFD’ tabs from C4D, and tried manually recreating the actual lemon shape. This is the rendered photo of the acorn, where I explored modelling acorn using the ‘Bend’ tab and ‘Bulge’ tab to create the pointy bottom part, as well as the upper part including the stem. This acorn is a primitive object, it is also an acorn I stole from a squirrel's stash in the park near my house This is the image of acorns on the sidewalk that I found while walking home, it's also where I have collected my acorn for the design challenge This is the rendered photo of the apple, where I explored modelling apple using the same techniques used in lemon and I have also approach it from its shape and curvature by adding a ‘Displacer’ for the body part. This is a purse that I own that looks exactly like a slice of lemon, so I decided to put it along with my actual lemon in the image to show the interesting material differences between the two objects This lemon is a primitive object, it is also a lemon I bought from Walmart while I was craving for lemonade The different coloured peppers in this image also gives a visual guidance of the transition of colours from lemon yellow to apple red This apple is a primitive object, it is also an apple I bought from Walmart along with the lemon for a quick healthy snack This is the image of 'Apple' in different forms and meanings, and also prices which indicates the different value an object can consist of

Design Challenge 2

This is the rendered photo of the stud earring, where I explored using area light for creating light and shadow This is a complex object of stud earring I recieved for the first time after ear piercing, and it is very memeroable to me This is the rendered photo of the water bottle, where I explored using area light for creating light and shadow This is a complex object of Creeper blind box figurine I own from childhood Minecraft collection This is the rendered photo of the Creeper figurine, where I explored using area light for creating light and shadow This is the process photo of the stud earring, where I explored modelling this ear stud using simple repetitive shapes, and using ‘Bevel’ tool to smooth the edges of the stud earring This is the process photo of the CD player, where I explored modelling this CD player using ‘Boolean’ tool to cut out shapes and able to create multi-dimensions and cut-out shapes This is a complex object of water bottle I won from one club event at Sheridan This is the process photo of the book, where I explored modelling this book using the ‘Plane’ object to create the pages and ‘Bend’ tool to make the pages bend naturally mimicking the actual book pages, and ‘loop/path cut’ to create more divisions for the outer layer This is the process photo of the Creeper figurine, where I explored modelling this figurine using ‘Symmetry’ tool to duplicate objects more efficiently This is the rendered photo of the CD player, where I explored using area light for creating light and shadow This is a complex object of a CD player that I bought for listening to all my Kpop and hiphop cd collection This is the process photo of the water bottle, where I explored modelling this water bottle’s cap details using the ‘Cloner’ tool and ‘Bevel’ tool to smooth the bottle’s body This is a complex object of a book that I enjoyed reading for the past weeks This is the rendered photo of the book, where I intentionally shows the closing state and opening state, so that the details of the book can be seen in the image This is the process photo of the cardholder, where I explored modelling this cardholder using the ‘Polygon Pen’ to ‘trace’ the shape off from the reference image. Then using ‘Extrude’ tab to add volume in decoration shape This is the process photo of the glasses, where I explored modelling the glasses’ nose pads using use ‘Symmetry’ tool and the ‘Polygon Pen’ to ‘trace’ the shape off from the reference image, then using ‘Extrude’ tab to add volume in shape for creating the outer layer of glasses This is a complex object of a pair of glasses that I acquire even though I don’t need glasses for better vision, but I find it a cute accessory to wear for fashion purposes This is the rendered photo of the glasses, where I explored using area light for creating light and shadow This is the process photo of the Tamtam plush, where I explored modelling this plush using the ‘Taper’ and ‘Bend’ tool to make the objects align with the curved surfaces This is the rendered photo of the cardholder, where I explored using area light for creating light and shadow This is a complex object of a photo cardholder I bought to showcase all my photo cards from my favourite Kpop band Seventeen This is the rendered photo of the cardholder with the plush, where I find cute to place them together for showcasing my merch collection so far This is a complex object of a Tamtam plush from the kpop band I love, and it’s designed by my favourite member of the band, so I find it very special and meaningful to me TThis is the rendered photo of the Tamtam plush, where I explored using area light for creating light and shadow
